Do you want to know which of your distance kids (or any kids for that matter) are participating in Zoom calls?  Then this is for you.  It might be a way to incentivize student's.

To access Zoom reports:
1.  Log into Zoom (the web not the app)
2.  Click on "Reports" on the left side menu.
3.  Choose the range of dates for the reports you wish to see.  Click "Search".
4.  Your list of reports will appear.  You will also have the ability to click on the hyperlink under "Participants"
5.  Once your list of participants is up, you can check the box for "Unique Users" to condense any duplicate users.  This will also, show the length of time that each user spent in the meeting.
6.  You can export this list as a .CSV file, screenshot it, or use it in your browsing window as is.

Adding a Zoom Link to Canvas Navigation

First, you’ll go into your Zoom account by logging in with your Graniteschools.org email address.  Once you are logged in, you’ll see “Meetings” on the left menu.  Click there, and then choose your Personal Meeting Room.  Copy the Join URL link listed under Personal Meeting Room.  This is the link you want students to join each time for each class.  The passcode is whatever you have set it at.

Next, go into Canvas and click on a course.  Choose Settings, and then click on Apps (the fourth tab across on the tabs in Settings).

Search for the app “Redirect”.  Click on the icon and then click “Add App”.  The configuration box will then appear.

Once you are in the app configuration, you will change the name to be “Zoom”, or “Click Here for Zoom”, or “Mrs. So and So’s Zoom”, whatever your preference might be.  You will paste your zoom link into the URL field, and then check the boxes to have the app show in Course Navigation and in User Navigation.  Then Click “Add App”.  You’re done!

The final step is you can change where your Zoom link appears in navigation by going to settings, click on Navigation and then change the order by dragging on the three dots.

What is the difference between zoom and loom

9/15/2020

Zoom is primarily a video conferencing program.  Yes, it will video; and yes, you can save and add that file to Canvas.  However, video recording is not what it is intended for.  If you are asking your digital learners to be online while you lecture and recording the lecture, yes, this is the way to go.

Loom is a video recording tool (and the one recommended by the district).  It allows you to choose between different cameras, and audio inputs.  It also creates files that are embeddable in Canvas and other documents.  Loom will also give you options to edit your videos and make them smaller and break them up.  Provides you more control over what you create and put out for students and parents.  If you are recording all alone in your classroom without the dreaded mask and putting up the file for students to view whenever, this is your better option.
