What is the difference between zoom and loom

Zoom is primarily a video conferencing program.  Yes, it will video; and yes, you can save and add that file to Canvas.  However, video recording is not what it is intended for.  If you are asking your digital learners to be online while you lecture and recording the lecture, yes, this is the way to go.

Loom is a video recording tool (and the one recommended by the district).  It allows you to choose between different cameras, and audio inputs.  It also creates files that are embeddable in Canvas and other documents.  Loom will also give you options to edit your videos and make them smaller and break them up.  Provides you more control over what you create and put out for students and parents.  If you are recording all alone in your classroom without the dreaded mask and putting up the file for students to view whenever, this is your better option.
